Iran to host world competitions of disabled volleyball players

TEHRAN, Feb. 04 (ISNA)-Iran is to host world competitions of disabled volleyball players. The move took place following the suggestion by the World Organization Volleyball for Disabled (WOVD) for holding the competitions in Iran.

TEHRAN, Feb. 04 (ISNA)-Iran is to host world competitions of disabled volleyball players. The move took place following the suggestion by the World Organization Volleyball for Disabled (WOVD) for holding the competitions in Iran. The decision was hailed by Irans Federation for the Disabled and War-Disabled Sports. The tournaments are to be held in early November in three Iranian cities of Mashhad, Isfahan and Kish. The disabled volleyball players under 22 will take part in the competitions. The participants should declare their presence 10 months before the matches if they are willing to take part in the tournaments. The competitions have been held every two years and Slovenia and Brazil have hosted the past two rounds. Sitting Volleyball was first introduced by the Dutch Sports Committee in 1956. Since then the game has been developed into one of the main sports played across the world. In 1980 it was accepted as a Paralympics Sport.
